In addition to what stated, your female cat or dog has to be in heat for breeding to work. Rosemow is an extremely helpful person on the Sims 4 forums! If you want to try to work around this or get more information that what jpkarlsen & I have given you, then here is a thread on The Sims 4 forums that deals with this: I'm sure they are working to fix this problem, but it is extremely frustrating!įor now I'm just not attempting to breed my pets until they fix this! And even when they do manage to actually mate, the momma pet might never go into labor, or it might say they are going into labor but nothing happens, or they will have a litter of pups or kittens, but even though you might pick out names for 3, none will be visible in-game unless you save, exit the game, and reenter - and then you will probably only see one of the puppies or kittens! (Whew!) This seems to especially happen when trying to breed with a stray (or so I've been told.) However, even if your pets have not been spayed or neutered, and you have plenty of room for more Sims (less than 8, like jpkarlsen said!), you still might have problems mating! Usually your pet will be rejected by the potential mate.
